 Humble Beginnings…

To the casual onlooker it must have looked more like a ladies social event. A small group of women assembled near the river outside the city gates of Philippi. After spending a few days within the city the Apostle Paul and his companions ventured outside the gates in search of a place of prayer.  They came upon this group and began to speak to them.  The Bible tells us that one woman named Lydia, had listened and responded to the Apostle Paul’s message. From, there the rest is history.

Who could have imagined that this impromptu gathering would actually be the beginning of the gospel in Europe and the first seeds of life for the church in Philippi?

Some 10 years later the Apostle Paul writes a letter to the church from his prison cell in Rome. But instead of being embittered or discouraged, Paul buoyantly declares “For me to live is Christ…” What is unveiled in this brief letter to Philippi is a Christ who supersedes every circumstance, is the secret to true happiness, and the centrality of life itself.

Join us Sunday mornings for the new series “For To Me To Live is Christ” and let the revelation of God’s Word radically change your life. A must for everyone – from the curious skeptic to the veteran Christian. The series runs Sunday Mornings at 11:00 am as part of the church service beginning May 13th.

 Relax and Enjoy

Our goal is that you would feel connected to God. We know people feel uncomfortable when they are put on the spot. So, we don’t do things that single out newcomers like having you stand up and introduce yourself. We’d like you to slip in with a minimum of discomfort and then gradually interact according to your readiness level. Of course we won’t ignore you, either. Expect friendly recognition and a helping hand if you need it.

A Brief Overview of Our Sunday Service

We have a small building in the heart of Cheviot.  We don’t have a parking lot but there is plenty of on street parking all around the church. In addition there is a parking lot at the municipal building on the corner of Lovell and Harrison (less than 1 block from the church) that we have permission to use. After you park enter the front doors and come on up to the main room. Grab a cup of coffee if you like and just hang out while the band starts it’s warm-up.

When the service starts (at 11:00am) everyone moves into the main meeting area. Take a seat wherever you like. If you need assistance just ask one of our ushers.

If you have kids who are capable of sitting with you, feel free to bring them into the service.  Otherwise, you can take them to our children’s room downstairs where some parents supervise a children’s church program designed for little ones.

Our music is mostly contemporary in style with some modern day instruments.  Words for the songs will be projected on the screen. The congregation usually joins in. But it’s not a singing competition so if you really don’t want to sing or you’re uncomfortable with it you don’t have to.

The preaching after the music comes mainly from our Pastor- Keith Miller though at other times some of the church leaders or younger men in training may participate. The message usually lasts about 30 minutes. The overall style is easy to follow. If you like you can sample a message on our media section.

The Bible is the authority in all of our services and preaching and we love it.  If you don’t have one, we furnish complimentary copies to use while you’re here. Typically, however, we project the Bible verses for you.  Regardless, our goal is not to lose you!

Offering or tithing is done at anytime before or after the service. We typically do not send an offering basket around the room. Instead we have an offering box at the entry way or you can give online at this website under the donate tab. If you are a first time guest, you should not feel obligated to give financially.  Typically, people begin supporting the church when they become regulars here.

At the end of the service, (around 12:00 noon) we ask everyone in the room, guest or regular, to fill out an info card all at the same time.  We don’t sell your info or use it to hound you (honest!).  We do maintain a data base so that we can keep you informed about special upcoming events, track the effectiveness of what we’re doing (there’s space provided on the card for your feedback) and notate your interest in any one of our special ministry areas.

So we hope you enjoy Cincinnati Community Church and feel more connected to God because you are here.
